Desert Warbler

Desert Warbler (Sylvia nana) is a winter visitor in north-west India.   Size: 12 cm

Identification: A tiny sand-coloured warbler with whitish underparts, and a rufous tail and rump. Yellow iris (eyes) and yellowish legs, feet and bill. Sexes almost identical.


This Warbler is very similar to African Desert Warbler (Sylvia deserti). It takes insects and small berries for food. The song is a distinctive jingle.
