Alpine Swift (Tachymarptis melba), a large-sized swift, is a probable resident in India. It is mainly found in the mountains and hills. Size: 22 cm

Distribution: Breeds in Spain, coastal Portugal, southern France, the Alps, Corsica, Italy, western Balkans, Crete, Cyprus, other Greek islands, Turkey, the Caucasus and Crimea. Breeds locally in the Middle East and in North-West Africa. Migratory, leaving breeding areas Sep-early Oct and wintering in sub-Saharan Africa.
